IV Therapy Nurse

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic IV Therapy Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties

  • Administer IV therapies including medications, fluids, and nutritional supplements with precision and aseptic technique
  • Assess patient needs through thorough physical examinations and vital sign monitoring prior to IV placement
  • Insert and maintain IV catheters safely using proper venipuncture and catheter care procedures
  • Monitor patients during infusion treatments for adverse reactions or complications, responding swiftly to ensure safety
  • Document all procedures accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Educate patients and their families on IV therapy processes, potential side effects, and post-treatment care instructions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, pharmacists, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) credential with current registration in the applicable state
  • Proven experience performing IV insertions and infusions in clinical settings such as hospitals, emergency rooms, or outpatient clinics
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, anatomy, physiology, and infection control protocols
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical documentation
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with disabilities or complex medical needs
  • Ability to perform venipuncture efficiently while maintaining patient comfort and safety
  • Critical care experience preferred—especially ICU or emergency medicine—along with familiarity in trauma centers or acute care environments
  • Additional skills such as phlebotomy, medication administration via injection, tube feeding management, and laboratory specimen collection are highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient education and support
